I experienced firsthand the recuperative power and magical quality of Home Cooking yesterday. I had a headache, congestion of head and sinuses, achy body. I needed something hearty and nourishing, so I prepared a strong Miso Soup with Vegetable Stock, Onions, Leeks, Carrots, Squash, Sweet Potato. The simple act of preparing this meal, and filling the house with smells of first the Stock simmering, and then the Soup as its flavours intensified, was nourishing in itself. Then as I was preparing to sit down to eat, I received a call from a friend who was passing by, who was able to stop by and share the meal with me. It was a gift for us both, an opportunity to share nourishing food together with a friend.
The following morning I wake, feeling much stronger. Mutsuko Johnson sends me these words:
‘I have experienced, again and again.
We can transform our being in the kitchen as we cook.
without any words.
Just be with the incredible energy from Nature.
As we cook and eat,
The energy from the Nature can transform our body.
Create balance to our body.
It is a humble, powerful experience.
That is the power of home cooking.’
