I’ve just returned from a birthday trip to Morocco. The temperature was in the 40s throughout, climbing to 52 degrees at one point. The locals were observing Ramadan during this time, so were navigating their days without any food or water during daylight hours. Quite a daunting prospect, and a remarkable sense of devotion and commitment to witness. I underestimated the strength of the sun completely, and suffered from heat stroke in the day and night before our return. I am now observing a dietary regime of my own: a healing one provided by Nicky, whose Macrobiotic Counsellor training comes in very handy at times like these. Pictured (top) is a Kuzu Ume-Sho Drink – a mix of diluted Kuzu simmered in water with an Ume Plum, ideal for strengthening and revitalising the digestive system; and a Shiitake Kombu Broth with Creamed Brown Rice – just the ticket for nourishing and strengthening Deep Kidney energy. If you’d like further information about healing foods, or are interested in having a personal Macrobiotic consultation, please contact Nicky by email.
