Truffiere snapshots

Photos from a summer holiday with my sister and family in Truffiere, near Angouleme in the South of France, largely revolving around the discovery, preparation and sharing of food and meals in the French sunshine.

A selection of Les Saveurs d’Antan (Rustic Tomatoes) on offer at the Brantome market…

…and the ones we purchased to create a simple, fresh salad.

Luncheon under the trees in the garden: Cheeses, Charcuterie, a cool Celeriac Soup.

An Apricot tart prepared by Soizic, with fresh apricots from the market.

The beginnings of fishcakes prepared with leftover Cabrillaud (cod), Boiled and mashed Potato, an Egg, Salt and Pepper to season and fresh Parsley.

Et Voila! The lunch of Gazpacho Soup with diced Onions and Peppers, Garlic Croutons, Baby Gem and Carrot Salad and the Fishcakes served with a homemade Mayonnaise.

A close up of the Gazpacho, Salad, Fishcake and Mayonnaise combination.

A classic French meal prepared by Soizic one evening: Chevre grilled on Toast with a green side salad with sauteed Lardons and fresh sliced Apple.

Dinner on the final evening: A Risotto made with Green and Yellow Zucchini, Sauteed Mushrooms, Peas and fresh Parsley.
